Depleted Uranium as a coating for tank shells was used during the active phase of the Iraqi War and is still in use today to a more limited degree. The Depleted Uranium (DU) is still active; expelled by the explosion of munitions into the atmosphere as dust it then settled into the ground, making its way into water sources.
